Yume Chakushin

“The Calling Dream”

Once upon a time, a game named Yume Chakushin rapidly gained worldwide popularity.

It seems no one remembers when it was released.

It was as if it had always been there, emerging out of nowhere…

Welcome to the Realm of the Dream.

“Come on in! Here you can explore the world of the classic, worldwide-famous video game Yume Chakushin.

Make yourself at home!”

Yume Chakushin (“The Calling Dream”) is a story about a special role-playing game set within the realm of dreams.

Yume Chakushin is a transmedia project integrating video games, film, 2D and 3D media, and more. It discusses the boundaries between video games and humanity, dreams and reality, and the living world and the afterlife.

Currently, the project has two parts: a video game and an experimental film. They are my explorations of different approaches to storytelling. By watching these two pieces of work depicting two separate perspectives of the story, you will dive deeper into the world of Yume Chakushin.

Yume Chakushin Part I: Video Game

The first part of the project is about exploring a game played in a dream, which is called Yume Chakushin.

While playing the game, the main character, Mero, engages in different nightmares (battles) and meets several other players, finds out that they are trapped in the dream world, explores “the game universe behind the dream”, and tries to find her way out and go back to reality.

“Everything started when our game streamer, Mero, was recommended by fans to play this game and dived into a world that lies beyond the dreamscape, a realm even more distant than the realm of dreams…”

Yume Chakushin Part II: Film

The second part of the project is about exploring the world of the game Yume Chakushin from a first-person perspective.

After leaving Chapter 0 and entering Chapter 1, Mero started live streaming and recorded things that happened in the game. During the streaming, Mero encounters many unrealistic and creepy events.

“Mero is tired of schools already, and dating sim makes it even more boring, but least she gets to explore the ghost tale, and streaming gives it more fun. However, everything starts to slowly feel... wrong.”

Did you enjoy exploring the world of Yume Chakushin? Are you wondering “Is that anything else?” The answer is YES!
I made an extension of Yume Chakushin that further completes the story, and it is Mero in the Classroom. It is a long-term multimedia project that spans multiple platforms, making the Yume Chakushin world more complete.

Basically, anything related to Yume Chakushin but is not directly included in it will be included in Mero in the Classroom. I will make updates anytime I make anything in the future, so look out for it!
